Little Theatre performance
Raleigh Little Theatre will host Allison Gregory’s “Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells!” through Nov. 17. The show will be in the Gaddy-Goodwin Teaching Theatre. TRIG Modern, 328 W. Jones St., Raleigh, has opened the exhibition “Surface Expansion” by Bob Rankin, an award-winning acrylic artist, and it will remain on display through Tuesday, Dec. 4.
During the Porsche By Design exhibit, the N.C. Museum of Art will present juried car shows from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays along 2110 Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh. The remaining dates are Nov. 9: American cars and hot rods; Nov. 30: art cars meetup. Owners of European cars, American cars, hot rods and art cars wishing to exhibit their cars must submit an application at www.ncartmuseum.org.
The PineCone Bluegrass Jam will be 7 to 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Busy Bee Cafe, 225 Wilmington St., Raleigh. Bluegrass musicians of all levels can listen, observe and play during the jam. For more information, visit www.pinecone.org.
The Frankie G. Weems Art Gallery will present “Syn-the-sys: Senior Exhibition, Fall 2013” Nov. 17 through Dec. 3 at Meredith College. The exhibition showcases the work of two Art Education majors, Kristen Piner and Clarke Glendenning. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 17, and the artists will present a gallery talk from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19.
The 21st annual Boylan Heights ArtWalk will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 in downtown Raleigh. More than 100 artists will show and sell their work on porches and lawns and in artists’ studios. There will be a broad range of artwork from both new and well-established artists, including pottery, jewelry, prints, oils, watercolors, home accessories and more. Admission is free. The Piedmont Laureate program has reopened its call for applications from authors of short fiction for 2014. Authors must be residents of Wake, Alamance, Durham or Orange counties.
