Informational sessions

Envision Science Academy, a new charter school opening in Wake Forest next year, will hold informational sessions from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24, and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26. The information sessions will give parents updates on progress, answer questions and discuss the enrollment process. For more information, visit

Vocational and college fair

The Oak City Classic Vocational and College Fair will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the John P. “Top” Greene Center, 401 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Raleigh. Students and parents can interact with admission representatives from post-secondary institutions and discuss course offerings, admission and financial aid requirements, college life and other information. Scholarship available

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has opened a new college scholarship for high-achieving, lower-income high school seniors seeking to attend the country’s best four-year colleges and universities. The scholarship will provide up to $30,000 for tuition, living expenses, books and required fees.
