Lebanon native Akram Khater will present a program on the Arab Spring from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the N.C. Museum of History, 5 E. Edenton St., Raleigh. Khater, the author of several books on the Middle East, is also an N.C. State history professor, director of the Middle East Studies Program and director of the Khayrallah Program for Lebanese-American Studies.

Historic Yates Mill County Park will celebrate National Popcorn Day from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday. The Center for Volunteer Caregiving invites Wake residents to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s legacy by becoming a year-round volunteer.
