Two robbers jumped a 33-year-old man on his way home from a North Raleigh bar early Aug. 22.
The victim was walking on the 3800 block of Brentwood Road about 2:30 a.m. when he sat down with a female acquaintance on the steps of an apartment complex.
A short while later, two men approached and told the woman to leave.
"One of the suspects displayed a handgun to the victim and demanded his money," said Laura Hourigan, a spokeswoman with the Raleigh Police Department.
The victim complied, turning over his cash and cell phone. The suspects fled on foot.
Both suspects are described as black men in their early 20s with average builds and standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall.
Both were wearing black T-shirts and jeans. The suspect with the firearm had a thin mustache.
The victim was not injured, police said.
