Police arrested a man who they say robbed a bank Jan. 25 and then fled from police into a North Raleigh fast-food restaurant.

Authorities arrested Xavier Hosea Shaw, 42, and charged him with armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Shaw was also served with an outstanding warrant for a charge of assault on a female.

About 9:30 a.m., police say, Shaw entered the BB&T bank at 8521 Brier Creek Parkway and demanded cash. He fled on foot, police say.

Officers said they responded to the scene and saw Shaw, who ran into the Chick-fil-A restaurant near Brier Creek shopping center. Police said they found Shaw hiding inside the business.

"He was taken into custody in the restroom," said Jim Sughrue, a spokesman for the Raleigh Police Department.

Shaw was taken to Wake County jail, where he was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
